One of our first projects of 2013 to produce two structural air dried oak trusses, roof members and structural beams for a listed 19th century coach house has recently been completed. Working closely with the client and architect, the design of the roof constuction had to be carefully considered to meet with such stringent conservation guidelines, as well as providing the necesarry strength to cope with the roof loadings. Large section beams, air dried for over 20 years, were selected from our stocks and cut on the sawmill. The beams and roof components were dressed, planed, brushed and then oiled for protection, all joints were cut in the workshops ready for assembly, and beams were wrapped in breathable membrane for protection before being delivered on site ready for installation. Look out for more details in the Projects section in due course.
